misc. woes

HDD woes.....
Both cartridge display the title screen ok, with the choose option 1 - 7. Most options most of the time result in a black screen and a strobing, air raid type noise. Sometimes choosing option 4 or 7 produces a screen with the earth on the left and a cross-hair in the middle of the screen.

It lights up when you switch it on, it does the 'black screen with writing on it' bit but then it goes pear shaped. At first I thought it had succumbed to one of them there virus thingies, and maybe it did, I don't know. All I know was, it would start up, get so far into starting Windows and then reboot.
